Here’s a summary of everything that’s been happening to me and my family lately.

It started about a six weeks ago, Dad was admitted to the hospital because he had a ‘mini-stroke’. It freaked me out at first, because I don’t know much about strokes, only that my grandmother had one and now she is almost catatonic. As it turns out, the stroke had been caused by a brain tumor. When I found that out the stroke went right out the window.

A few weeks went by, and finally they did the brain surgery, to remove the tumor. After the surgery Dad entirely lost all movement on the left side of his body. He started doing physiotherapy, and now he can move his leg slightly, but still can’t move his arm or left side of his face.

Today we had an appointment with the Radiation Oncologist (he does the radiotherapy) and the Medical Oncologist (he does Chemotherapy). They said the radiation + chemo will help ‘control’ the tumor, but its not a cure. It will come back, but at what time we can’t know for sure.

After everything though, my Sister said that she had already spoken to this doctor privately last week (because my brother-in-law used to work at this hospital and knows him) and the Radiotherapist says we are not talking years here. He probably won’t have that long.

Although, I kinda thing doctors are required to be pessimistic. I know my friend told me someone was given months to live and she’s still around five years later, so who knows. We have a lot of waiting and worrying ahead of us
